②下列句中especially可用and especially，more especially或and more especially替换，意思不变。

必要的，主要的

 

①用作定语。

【例】Now we wish to summarize the essential points of our proposition as follows: ...

现在我们将我方建议[报盘]的要点归纳如下：……

注：有人将proposition用作“报盘”。

 

②作表语或宾语（或主语）的补语。

【例】You may put our warranty in the contract if you find it essential.

如果你方认为有必要，可以在合同中加上我方的保证。

 

③后面可接用to或for引起的短语。

【例】Close cooperation is essential for our mutual benefit.

密切合作对于我们共同的利益是不可缺少的。

 

④be essential后可接用that从句，从句中用should或虚拟语气现在时。

【例】It is essential that you (should) effect shipment of our order very soon after receiving it.
