【1】使适应

 

①常接用介词to。

【例】You should adapt your terms of trade to the new circumstances.

你方的交易条件应适应新的情况。

 

②常和反身代词连用，句式：adapt oneself to。

【例】 You may have found that the design of this lot of toys well adapts itself to children’s psychology.

相信你方业已发现这批玩具的设计很适合幼儿的心理。

 

③过去分词可用作定语和表语。

【例】Our terms are generous and adapted to the needs of various customers.

我公司的条件甚是宽厚，适合各方顾客的需要。

 

【2】适应

经常接介词to。

 

【例】To adapt to the latest development in the country’s economy, some delegates called for legislation on collecting taxes on stock trading.

为适应国家经济的最新发展情况，某些代表要求立法，对股票交易征税。

【例】Actually most of the new products that come into our market every year are not really new but adaptation.

每年进入我们市场的新产品大多数并非真正的新产品而是改造的产品。

 

add

【1】加上，把……加上去

 

①常接用介词to。

【例】Please add a sufficient quantity of spare parts to this order.

请在这批订货中加上足够数量的备件。

 

②add可表示“进一步说明”，后面接用that从句。

【例】We would like to add that we can make immediate shipment.

我们想补充说明，我方能立即交货。

 

【2】add to增加

 

【例】The mounting requirements add to the firmness of the market.

需要量日益增加，使市场更加坚挺。

 

【3】add up to合计达，加起来是

 

【例】All the weights add up to 1280kgs.

所有的重量合计达1280千克。
